The MNHL is tailored specifically for adult male and female beginner, novice, and lower-intermediate players. Whether you're just starting out or currently playing in a D-level league, this is for you.
Our games are officiated by Maine referees and feature live scoring and entertainment between periods.
Can I play?
Yes, if you’re
- An adult beginner or novice, 18 or over
- A current D-level league player
- Basic skating: forward, stopping, stick handling
- Full hockey equipment
Not eligible
- An A, B, or higher-level C league player
- Recent college experience (unless 50 or older)
How a game runs
Three 13-minute periods
Periods 1 and 2 run time, stopping for the final two minutes.
Full stop time in the third
The clock stops on every whistle once the third period starts.
One-minute breaks
Short intermissions keep the game moving and the ice on schedule.
Shootout settles a tie
A game still level after three periods goes straight to a shootout.
