Maine Novice Hockey League

Accessibility

How we build and test this site so that everyone can use it, and how to tell us when something is not working.

This league is for everyone, and its website should be too. A lot of work has gone into making that true: every page you can open without signing in is built and tested against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the international standard for accessible websites.

That means it should work for you whether you use a screen reader, get around by keyboard, or need bigger text, stronger contrast or less movement on screen. We know we will not have caught everything, so if something here gets in your way, please tell us.

What we have done

  • Every kind of page is checked automatically before any change goes live.
  • Someone also goes through the site by hand — last done on 16 August 2026.
  • Text colours are measured against what is behind them, not eyeballed.
  • Built for phones first: big enough to tap, and nothing needs a mouse.
  • If you have asked your device for less movement or more contrast, we follow it.
  • Our roster graphics have the same roster written out as text underneath.

Where we know we fall short

  • The staff-only screens the league uses to run game nights are not covered.
  • We checked our own work — nobody independent has reviewed the site.
  • Photographs in our news archive have no written description.
  • Anything that takes you off our site, like Google Maps or Facebook, is out of our hands.

Something not working? Tell us

Tell us which page and what went wrong — a rough description is fine.

This is our own assessment rather than an independent audit. Last reviewed on 17 August 2026.
