The MNHL is designed primarily for D/E-level players and lower-level C players. A limited number of more experienced C/B-level players may participate to help support player development and improve game structure.

These players are expected to adjust their game to the level of the league and take on more of a mentor role.

What Is Expected

C/B-level players must:

• Play at the level of the players around them
• Control their speed and avoid dominating play
• Move the puck early and involve teammates
• Avoid end-to-end solo rushes
• Help with positioning, breakouts, and puck movement
• Maintain a positive attitude and lead by example

Scoring Restrictions

To keep games balanced, C/B-level players:

• May score a maximum of 1 goal per game
• May only score when there is a 2-goal differential
• May not score during overtime
• Should not take long-range shots from the blue line
• Are expected to focus primarily on passing, assists, and creating opportunities for teammates

Why We Allow Skilled Players

The purpose of including a limited number of skilled players is to:

• Help developing players improve
• Provide structure during games
• Encourage better puck movement and positioning
• Maintain competitive and balanced games
• Create a positive learning environment

Their role is not to dominate games or showcase their individual ability.

League Oversight

The designated skilled players will naturally have different ability levels. Each player is responsible for recognizing their own skill level and adjusting their speed and style of play accordingly.

If a C/B-level player consistently dominates games, does not follow these expectations, or negatively affects the experience of developing players, the MNHL reserves the right to remove that player or discontinue this accommodation.

The MNHL's priority will always be maintaining a fair, safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for developing hockey players.
