GREEN MONSTERS CLAIM THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN TWO GAMES

The Green Monsters are officially your MNHL Season 3 Champions after completing a two-game sweep of the Blue Bears in the best-of-three finals series.

After earning a 5-2 victory in Game 1, the Monsters returned in Game 2 and once again controlled the play, defeating the Bears 4-1 to secure the championship and bring the series to an early end.

Game 1 saw the Monsters overcome an early Bears goal before taking control of the game. Sarah Lord led the offensive attack with two goals, while Sara Hansen, Justin Lachance, and Steve Lawrence also found the back of the net. Joe Rodhouse was a key playmaker throughout the game, recording multiple assists as the Monsters outshot the Bears 24-20.

Looking to extend the series, the Bears battled hard in Game 2 and kept the game close through the opening periods. Joe Rodhouse opened the scoring for the Monsters before Justin Lachance added another in the second period. Dylan Putnam scored the lone goal for the Bears, but a second goal from Rodhouse and a late empty-net goal from Steve Lawrence sealed the 4-1 victory. The Monsters narrowly edged the Bears in shots, 25-23.

Over the two games, the Green Monsters showcased balanced scoring, strong defensive play, and consistent goaltending. Joe Rodhouse was a standout performer throughout the series, contributing four goals and four assists, while Sarah Lord, Justin Lachance, and Steve Lawrence all played major roles in the championship run.

The Blue Bears deserve recognition for an excellent season and a hard-fought playoff run that saw them reach the league finals. Despite coming up short, the Bears remained competitive throughout the series and never stopped battling until the end.

Season 4 of the Maine Novice Hockey League will officially begin on August 8, 2026, with two new expansion teams joining the league: the Orange Crush and the Pink Flamingos.
